Crazy Burger - Secret Service Update

Crazy Burger Secret Service

On the latest episode of Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service, Gordon Ramsay is in Narragansett, Rhode Island to help out the Crazy Burger Cafe & Juice Bar.  Crazy Burger Cafe is a historic establishment that has a reputation around the community. The restaurant is in a tourist area and Gordon Ramsay will need to revamp it to help it succeed.

Secret Service for Crazy Burger Cafe & Juice Bar was filmed in April 2025 and I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about Crazy Burger to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Gordon Ramsay visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Secret Service):

Positive Reviews:

  • "Very creative and delicious menu. The back patio was very nice in the summer (it's shaded, BTW)"
  • "The Crazy Burger staff, cuisine and atmosphere don't disappoint. I appreciate the many healthful, GF, and vegan options which are full of color and texture. We like to frequent this easy- on- the-wallet eatery close enough to walk to from downtown Narragansett."
  • "If you're vegan, go here. Unbelievably good. Not many, but some of the best vegan food options I have ever had. They had non dairy milk, vegan dessert, vegan quesasdillas, vegan burgers, and a vegan breakfast sandwich."
  • "This place is freaking awesome! The gorgonzola burger and mac burger were so good! Even down to the fresh pickles on the plate. Get a milk shake too! Service was outstanding and quick. Thank you!"
  • "I had great vegan food near the beach and it was reasonably priced. Loved it! Staff was very friendly and quick even though it was busy. Great outdoor seating with fun art"

Negative Reviews:
  • "It makes me so sad to leave this review, this use to be one of my favorite places to eat in Narragansett! I’ve been coming here for about 15 years every summer while on vacation and the past few years I’ve struggled with the service being slow and the quality of the food not being what it used to be......We all had burgers and they were just okay, certainly not worth $16 PLUS a side of fries, since they no longer come with fries! My kids split a milkshake and enjoyed it but mine was a vegan one and tasted like watery chocolate milk. The worst part was that on top of being forgotten (twice) and the food being sub-par, the bill was $96 and two of our meals were KIDS meals!! Totally not worth it and we won’t ever be returning."
  • "It is with a heavy heart and a an empty wallet that I leave this review. I used to looooove this place but everything has changed for the worse. From the ugly tables and chairs, to the little metal dissecting trays the food comes on. There are only 2 vegan choices for "burgers" now where there used to be several, and it no longer comes with choice of bean salad or slaw, now everything is extra! I miss the fun, colorful fiesta ware and the pretty patterned cloth napkins, the whole vibe is just sad. No one was there and it was Friday evening!! No more dinner specials, farewell west coast vegan enchiladas, I will miss you as I will never go back and I have been going here for decades!!"
  • "Terrible service and frozen burgers. There was lip stick stains on the cups and the waitresses were curt, miserable, and overall impersonal. The food wasnt even warm when it arrived to the table. Would not recommend."
  • "Not the same place. The breakfast was awful. The turkey sausage was inedible. My eggs over cooked. Home fries were overcooked. Tasted like leftovers put in a fryer. The brioche cut up into little pieces ridiculous. I took friends from out of state l was embarrassed. I use to love the place. Miss the old decor"
  • "This place is awesome. However myself and many other do NOT like the Gordon Ramsey makeover at all. The tables are terrible. If you or your kids spill food or drink or anything its all over your lap. The restaurant lost its personality. Its boring and generic now. So many good things to eat well they they removed a lot now also and portion sized are smaller 😑"
  • "Really don't know what happened. We stop here once a year on our way to Newport. This last visit was horrible. The dining room was filthy , and for some reason the decor changed into something very tacky. The food, well soggy in toasted roll, soggy unseasoned fries, and a very dried out burger that had to be pre frozen. How can it just go so bad"
  • "Used to be really good, but it's gone way downhill in the past few years. It genuinely take an ETERNITY to get the food and it's not even that good"
  • "I have been eating at crazy burger for 17 years, I came for the first time since Gordan Ramsey came and did his "refresh". One word: DISAPPOINTED. I was looking forward to see what could have been improved because I already loved the vibe and the food so I figured it could only get better! But no. Very wrong. The inside has lost its funky colorful vibe, and has been replaced with tacky "beach bar" decor and cheap generic ikea furniture. The walls are stark white and I couldn't even find the picture of Guy Fieri anywhere! But I digress."

    • Restaurants with upcoming appearances on Secret Service usually advertise their episode, but Crazy Burger isn't promoting it on their social media.

Conclusion:

The reviews for Crazy Burger Cafe & Juice Bar since Gordon Ramsay and Secret Service visited are somewhat negative.  The positive reviews seem to complement the vegan options at the restaurant while the negative reviews complain about the food and service.  It also seems that many people don't like the makeover done by Secret Service and they do not like that the burgers no longer come with fries unless you order them separately.  Crazy Burger was on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives in the past, so it seems they like opportunities to appear on TV.
