Jaxon Edwin from 24 Hours To Hell and Back Has Closed

Jaxon Edwin Social House, which was featured on 24 Hours to Hell and Back in May 2020 has closed.  Jaxon Edwin was part of the Ellicott City, Maryland special which was filmed in February 2020, where Gordon Ramsay helped multiple businesses recover after a flood.

Jaxon Edwin posted the following message on their Facebook page on August 6, 2020:

"It gives me great pain to let everyone know that we will sadly be ceasing operations for Jaxon Edwin. This company started as kickstarter and ended with a Gordon Ramsay remodel. After filming, we were on fire-standing room only each weekend. My chef Brenden says we were on our way to building something beautiful. Then 3 days later we were shut down due to this pandemic. In May we safely reopened but what we’ve learned the past few months is there are too many things working against us. The pressure of owing 100% of our rent during a time when we are reduced to 50% at best has become too much to bear. While our landlords got most of their burden deferred for several months, we owe 100%. So we’ve tried to reopen per the law, which did not cover expenses. Many people are not yet comfortable with indoor seating, but sadly we were not able to obtain a solution to bring in that business. Several Fridays ago we had a band play and then we later found out that 2 customers had tested positive for COVID-19. I do not want to bear the guilt if someone were to get sick due to us being open. In a perfect world I would love to reopen in a year when it’s safe, but we don’t own our building and it’s been made clear no renegotiations will be made. The overwhelming amount of support that we have received has been incredible. Thank you to all who said you would support us once Covid is over. From the bottom of my heart I am truly sorry to my family for putting us in an awful financial situation. All I ever wanted to do was create a cool concept for this town and help boost EC. I’m sorry to the community for not taking the time to get to know you all. I brought a very successful company to Main Street 4 years ago which lead to having 3 businesses at once. My biggest regret was not getting to know more of you. I should have taken more time to meet you all. Finally I’m sorry to my loyal customers and staff. I know you all love our concept and it brings me to tears (if you can believe that) to know we can’t serve you anymore. Maybe one day when the world is healthy we can try again, but in the meantime, please stay well. #ellicottcity #ecstrong #imsorry"

Obviously COVID-19 and the regulations that have been put on restaurants has been tough for many restaurants and it seems that Jaxon Edwin was unable to make it work.  They had a lot of well wishes in the comments of their post and the restaurant said hopefully some day they could return.  The space is currently available and the other businesses that appeared on 24 Hours to Hell and Back are still open.

Jaxon Edwin has been updated as 'Closed' on the 24 Hours to Hell and Back Updates page

Caneda's White Rooster Has Closed - 24 Hours to Hell and Back Update

Caneda's White Rooster in Toms River, NJ which appeared on season 3 of 24 Hours to Hell and Back has closed.  The restaurant posted the following message on their Facebook page on March 18th, 2020:

"I have a heavy heart. It was 12 years ago when my life took a very sad and difficult turn in the aftermath of a divorce and I was left with nothing.
It took me almost four years to find my home and career in this business and I have been going with all that I am ever since. Over the last 16 months with the generosity and support of Jay & Jeremy Grunin I was able to keep going on a scale I could only dream of. I am grateful to them for the opportunity. This is not an easy business and when you are in love with it you fight through every bad day and you keep dreaming and hoping it all works out. I built a team that I am so proud of and grateful for. Without their hard work and positive attitudes I wouldn’t have gained your support and appreciation for what we have tried to offer this community. They are stars in my heart always. My grandparents and my children have been my inspiration and motivation from the beginning. My love for food and serving you is my passion. This is who I am.
When I started my business at the shoppe I had only made empanadas twice in my life but I believed in my abilities and I went for it. I put blinders on and I have worked so hard.
I really tried.
Unfortunately there are so many things that have come to be that are out of my control and I have spent the last couple of weeks in a daze of sorts. I wanted this restaurant to be the change we welcomed and maybe I got it wrong. I still believe that there is something I can do to make a difference and my spirit won’t rest until I have accomplished that. For me, this was more than a business. It was my heart. I want to thank every single person who has supported my dream and shared the love. I am back to where I started 12 years ago with a clear understanding that this business is still where I belong. As of today Caneda’s White Rooster will be closed and will not reopen. I ask that you continue to support small businesses and buy local because you are keeping someone’s dream alive. Life is so short and all we want to do is make it the best it can be. Some of us take a risk because there is nothing else that will make us complete and proud of ourselves. I am one of those people. I won’t stop dreaming. I won’t stop trying and I hope you will see me again..........someday. I was so close.
Thank you for all the love,
Patty Caneda"

Caneda's White Rooster appeared on 24 Hours to Hell and Back in January 2020 and the episode was filmed in October 2019.  So the restaurant closed just five months after the episode was filmed and two months after the episode aired.  Caneda's White Rooster put out a new menu in the beginning of March, so perhaps the coronavirus shutdowns had an impact on Patty's decision to close the restaurant.

Caneda's White Rooster has been marked as 'Closed' on the 24 Hours to Hell and Back updates page and here is the detailed update from when the episode aired.

Southern Boulevard (SoBo) Has Closed - 24 Hours to Hell and Back Update

Southern Boulevard (also known as SoBo) in Little Rock, Arkansas which just appeared on 24 Hours to Hell and Back has closed.

In the update from when the episode aired, it was reported that the restaurant closed for the weekend to supposedly prepare for Tuesday's watch party.  They stated on Facebook, "We are so pumped and excited for our show to air this Tuesday. Unfortunately, due to the high demand for reservations for our watch party, we are allowing extra time off for staff and training to better-prepare ourselves for what’s to come! See you guys after the weekend! Our sincere apologies for being closed these few days."

I thought that was a little strange to close the restaurant on a weekend to prepare for a busy night and it appears I was right.  Fox16 is reporting that the restaurant is closed and was closed the night of the supposed watch party as well.  The property owner said that the restaurant was evicted and is $22,000 behind in rent.  When 24 Hours to Hell and Back asked the property owner for permission to film, owner Jermaine Burton promised to catch up on payments after the show was over, but that apparently didn't happen.

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission also said Southern Boulevard's license was suspended in January 2020 for unpaid taxes.

Jermaine said he denies some of the statements made by the landlord and that he hopes he can work out an arrangement to get his business up and running.

Southern Boulevard's Facebook page has been taken down for the moment and it shows up as a broken link.  Southern Boulevard (SoBo) has now been marked as 'Closed' on the 24 Hours to Hell and Back Updates page.

Vasi's Taverna From 24 Hours to Hell and Back Has Closed

Vasi's Taverna in Waterbury, Connecticut which appeared on season two of 24 Hours to Hell and Back has closed.  The restaurant closed in January 2020 and posted the following message on their Facebook page:

"Since February 2002, Vasi’s Taverna (formerly known as Vasi’s Restaurant and Bar), has been honored to serve the greater Waterbury area. Despite the support of our loyal customers and our efforts to rebrand over the last year, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. We thank all of our loyal customers and employees for the great run we had.
If you have any question or concerns regarding our closing, please leave a message 203.755.3936 and we will return your call. Thank you all very much."

During the 24 Hours to Hell and Back makeover, Gordon Ramsay decided to rename their restaurant from Vasi's Restaurant and Bar to Vasi's Taverna and they did keep the name.  The restaurant closes after 18 years in business and a year after the Gordon Ramsay visit.

In a CT Post article, owner Vasilios Kaloidis said he closed after receiving an offer to be bought.  The deal ended up falling through, but he already told staff and returned deposits for upcoming events at the restaurant.  After that, he "didn't have the heart to reopen" and the restaurant remains for sale.  Vasilios also said he doesn't blame the 24 Hours to Hell and Back for closing and business increased a little bit after the show aired, then went back to normal.  Vasilios also went back to his normal menu based on customer feedback.
