On this week's episode of Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon Ramsay is in Jefferson, Louisiana to help out the restaurant 3 Southern Girls. This is a Road to Superbowl LIX episode that focuses on New Orleans restaurants. 3 Southern Girls was a successful restaurant that had to close down for more than a month due to a family tragedy. Gordon must now help them get back to where they once were in hopes of making the restaurant successful.
Kitchen Nightmares visited 3 Southern Girls in September 2024 to film the episode, and I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about 3 Southern Girls to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Gordon Ramsay visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Kitchen Nightmares):
Positive Reviews:
- "Everyone was really friendly and they had a. lot of soul food/home cooking to offer. I took my mother and brother there for a Monday lunch and we all had the red beans, corn bread, and potato salad and it was delicious!!!! Will eat there again for sure."
- "Real down to earth spot. Very quaint and cute, gives you a little nostalgia. Service was good and the food was even better."
- "While recently vacationing in New Orleans, we decided to eat at this restaurant because I have heard so many great comments as the food and the friendly atmosphere. We were not disappointed! The food is so amazing and the owner personally came to our table to say hello. In fact, my husband and I loved everything about this place, we came back a second time before heading home."
- "Absolutely love this place. I only know of this place because it is being featured on "Kitchen Nightmares". However after eating here I will be back again, again, and again etc. I had the stuffed bell pepper (Seafood) sweet peas, and sweet potatoes (yams) and the entire meal was phenomenal. The bell pepper was large, the stuffing was plentiful and had a perfect taste. It was moist and a plentiful portion. During my meal I had the good fortune to meet the Owner. She was very cordial, informative, and just plain "Southern", so very very hospitable! If you are in NOLA or even close make your way over there and experience how food should taste."
Negative Reviews:
- "If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I ordered a pick iPhone order through their website, and I was excited to try the fried chicken with a side of Mac and cheese and cabbage. The fried chicken was the worst chicken I've ever had in my life. It was fried in VERY OLD fish grease, and the chicken tastes old and SPOILED. I literally spit the chicken out my mouth on the drive back home. I was so disappointed because this is a black owned restaurant, and I wasted $17 of my hard working money on spoiled food. My food was so bad, I had to stop to Popeyes to get lunch, which meant spending more money. O stars!"
- "I called in my order right before my lunch break and when I arrived at the restaurant the cashier said oh I forgot to put your order in. She didn’t even apologized for her dropping the ball. So I paid and waited, she said it will only take a few minutes. A few minutes turned into 20 minutes, I only had a gumbo and grilled cheese."
- The makeover for 3 Southern Girls happened in September 2024.
- Here is a preview video of the episode from YouTube where a customer is saying there isn't much shrimp in their gumbo..
- Here is the 3 Southern Girls website and Facebook page.
- 3 Southern Girls is only open Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm, so the hours are limited. It seems like in the summer, they extend their hours to close at 5pm.
- The restaurant opened in 2020, just a few weeks before the pandemic hit and caused a lot of restaurants to close. (Link)
- Here are the reviews for 3 Southern Girls on Yelp and Google.
